At the Methodist Family Day Out at Carnfunnock Country Park on 20th September the members of the Sunday School organised a Scooterthon round a course in the Activity Area of the park. The weather was beautiful, warm and sunny, and over forty members of the church and visitors came along to enjoy the day and watch the excitement.
Seventeen young people took part in the Scooterthon in which £490 was raised in sponsorship. In the photographs you can see the young people speeding round the course, enjoying the BBQ which followed and playing in the adventure park. You may also see some of our more mature members going round the circuit on motorised scooters!
The money raised on the day was divided to support the Whitehead Methodist Church Building Fund and also to buy pens and school equipment for schools in Tanzania under the Kids4school scheme.
On the following Sunday, 28th September, which was our Harvest Celebration, the young people presented these pens and school materials in the form of seventeen scholar packs to Mrs Joanne McFarlane and you can see them all, with their Sunday school teachers, in the photograph. The church collection lifted during the harvest service will also go to Kids4school.
