Islandmagee First Responders’ Team was set up about ten years ago and has been first on the scene at many emergency calls providing first aid and basic life saving support to people waiting for paradmedics.
The Service has recently added another string to its bow thanks to the financial support of local residents who helped to buy another defibrilator. The new defibrilator is located in Caldwell’s Spar shop at Ballystrudder. This defibrilator will be available 24/7 to anyone who is trained to use it.
Currently, there are only 23 volunteers who can use the defibrilator and more are needed.
If you are interested in learning a new skill and provide an important service to the local community please contact Gerry (0781 2947 312) or Jamie (0798 6425 939)
The training is free and will cover:
- First Aid
- Use of Defibrilators
- Use of Oxygen Equipment
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
