Building Project

At Whitehead Methodist Church  and Islandmagee Methodist Church we aim to be at the hearts of our communities and we are currently fund-raising to extend our premises in Whitehead so we can increase our church and community activities.

It is estimated that the cost of the new extension will be approximately £200,000. Our congregations have organised some super fund-raising activities which have raised around £120,000 after Planning Application and associated architect’s fee have already been paid.

Planning permission for the Building Project is currently being sought and if we can achieve this in the next few months and secure the rest of the funding, it will be possible to make a start on the building works in 2015.

Fund-raising activities

Below are some examples of our congregations’ fund-raising activities:

Niamh Kavanagh Concert
Niamh Kavanagh gave a tremendous performance at the Whitehead Methodist Church on 7 February. The 160-strong audience absolutely loved her. She sang fantastic songs and hymns, from the R&B ‘Mustang Sally‘  to the beautiful hymn ‘I, The Lord of Sea and Sky‘.

Victorian Fair Day
In November 2014  we set up craft and bric-a-brac stalls and a cafe in the Whitehead Methodist Church grounds as part of the  popular Whithead Victorian Fair Day. Hard work by the volunteers on the day and in preparation for the event ensured the day was a great success and £3402.38 was raised.
